FAQ & Process for Sales on Behalf
-
Q: What is a “Sales on Behalf” service?
A: It’s a service where we sell your vehicle for you. You retain ownership until it’s sold, while we handle the marketing, inquiries, paperwork, and sales process from start to finish.Q: How is this different from trading in or selling privately?
A: Trading in often results in a lower price, and private selling involves more hassle and risk like multiple inquiries, organising viewings and time wasters. Our service gets you a better return with none of the stress.Q: Why should we use your service?
A: We present your vehicle at it’s best, including professional photos and informative descriptions. As a dealership, we can offer finance, trade in options and more, opening up your vehicle to a wider audience willing to pay extra for that peace of mind.
Q: What types of vehicles can you sell on behalf of clients?
A: We handle everything from minis & coupes, to SUVs & Utes, and anything in-between.Q: Do I need to be present during the sale process?
A: No — once the vehicle is dropped off or collected and paperwork is signed, we take care of the entire process for you. We will keep you updated when necessary. -
Q: What does it cost to sell my vehicle through you?
A: We charge a $850 marketing fee to cover our listing and admin fees, on top of a 7% commission (min $1,000, max $5000) on sale. If your vehicle needs any detailing or repair work (see Vehicle Prep section below), there may be costs for these too.Q: How and when do I get paid once my vehicle is sold?
A: You’ll receive payment via bank transfer to the bank account you nominated in the Sales on Behalf Agreement. We aim to pay you within 5 working days of the sale being completed.Q: Do I need to pay anything upfront?
A: Yes — We will invoice you the marketing fee and detailing work (if needed) once the Sales on Behalf agreement has been signed. Any other costs that may be needed down the line will be invoiced accordingly. The commission is only charged once the sale is complete and we will automatically deduct this from the funds returned to you. -
Q: Do you detail or groom the vehicle before listing it?
A: Only if needed, presentation is key. We offer professional grooming options to ensure your vehicle is presented at its best. This will be charged to you as mentioned in our fees section above.Q: Can you help with repairs, touch-ups, or servicing before sale?
A: Absolutely. We can arrange with our trusted suppliers to take care of any issues that might affect resale value or functionality of the vehicle. We will advise and confirm with you of the costs for any repair work or servicing prior to commencing the work and invoice you these costs accordingly.Q: Will you photograph and advertise the vehicle for me?
A: Yes — we take high-quality photos and handle all marketing across our sales channels and partner platforms. You do not need to maintain and must remove any listings you may have already had prior to us taking your vehicle on-board. -
Q: Do I need to keep my registration and WOF current?
A: We will keep your registration and WOF up to date when necessary. One WOF is included in the marketing fee, but any other costs like rego and RUC will be charged accordingly.Q: Are you licensed to sell vehicles on behalf of private owners?
A: Yes — we’re a Registered Motor Vehicle Trader (RMVT) and operate under all legal requirements as a dealership. This includes in legal pre/post-sale obligations that would apply as if your vehicle was our own stock.Q: Who handles the paperwork, ownership transfer, and legal compliance?
A: We take care of all documentation, including buyer contracts, change of ownership, and legal compliance.Q: What happens if a buyer wants finance, warranty, insurance or a trade-in?
A: We can facilitate finance and other applications, and trade-ins on your behalf to help secure the sale. -
Q: How long does it typically take to sell a vehicle?
A: It varies depending on the vehicle type, price point, and market conditions. Most vehicles sell within 1 to 3 months.Q: Can I set a minimum price or reserve?
A: Upon completing research of the market for your vehicle type, we will advise a price range (low to high) we expect to sell the vehicle in, and we endeavor to get the most money possible for your vehicle. This range is only a snap shot of the market at the relative time, and does not constitute a guarantee. Market fluctuations, buyer activity, economic conditions and other factors beyond our control can have an impact on the value of your vehicle.Q: What happens if my vehicle doesn’t sell?
A: If your vehicle does not sell within 3 months, you can choose to have the vehicle returned to you and we will end the Sales on Behalf process OR, if you wish us to continue selling the vehicle, we will keep the vehicle listed for another 3 months at an additional cost of $200 which can be repeated until the vehicle is sold.
Q: Can I continue using the vehicle while it’s listed?
A: Yes — You may still keep hold of the vehicle if you need to use it. We will try to facilitate viewings that align with your schedule. Bear in mind, the more readily available your car is to view, the easier it is to sell.
